저분자량의 기체(H₂O, H₂, O₂ 등) 는 고분자량 기체(N₂, CH₄ 등) 에 비해 높은 용해도 및 확산속도를 가지며 막 내부를 빠르게 투과
저분자량 기체는 막을 투과하고, 고분자량의 기체는 잔류되어 분리
